Day 29: Pascuala - Cordoba, 314 km

32 degrees at 19:30. Well well, Andalucia is supposed to be hot... A wasp managed to find its way up the sleeve of my jacket yesterday. That encounter did no good to either of us. Big red swollen mark, itching on my left arm. At least I'm alive, which is more than the wasp can say...
Started the day rather more chilly though, as I continued the little road since previous day towards Cazorla. Still as narrow as ever. Climbing steadily from approx 7-800 meters above sea level, up until the pass at 1600 meters. All during a 20 km drive. I would not go as far as "scary", but most intimidating when there's really nothing but a big drop between those 1600 and being back at 800 again.
Today I also learnt where the olives come from. Over the mountainpass and there they were. Olive trees as far as the eye could see, all the way to the horizon.
The idea for the day was to see Cueva de los Murcielagos. Caves in Spain are almost always interesting and happened to stumble on this one on the net. Promised underground lakes and stuff! Turns out this time of year it is open only saturdays and sundays. Apparently high season ended last week or so. It's quite ok to give that info on the net as well! And while at it, why not also mention the campsite being closed...
Would have been a nice trip, but was not to be. I won't stay at a non-open campsite for almost a week just to see a cave. Took a trip up the mountain to the entrance (why does all cave entrances have to be way up a mountain side?!?) and then on to Cordoba instead. Set up Casa Jorge and will hit town tomorrow. No bike riding, only sightseeing!
Not a good encounter,  even though I was stationary when we met

A tiny bridge on a tiny road

Camped at the bottom of this valley...

...and came up here

Olive trees, all the way to the horizon

Cave on top of left mountain,  campsite in village. Both picturesque, neither open...

Casa Jorge da Cordoba!
