I've temporarily stepped off the bike since a couple of days back. The trip is still on, of course, but at the moment more via car and foot, as I'm still visiting my parents in Santa Pola.
Apart from socializing and sigtseeing, this is also sort of a service stop. Found a KTM dealer in Crevillent and went there friday to get some break pads for the front. Should be in tomorrow, so then it's time for a swap and the long awaited oil change as well. The pads weren't actually that bad, but as I'll be riding quite a lot in the mountains from next week on I might as well change them when I have the chance.
There has been some other small fixes as well, like horn, auxillary light switch etc. but overall the bike has coped well with the trip so far.
Yesterday we had a look at an archeological dig in El Campello, a small peninsula where people have lived since some 6000 years
back. Not done too much of swimming the mediterranean yet though, but
that'll change today.
Looking through maps and the internet (yes, I
do some planning ahead when I can), I've now come up with a game plan
for Andalucia. It looks to be a lot of mountains, which can be fun. When
it comes to campsites, most of them seems to be situated between 20-40
km outside of the cities I'd like to visit. This is a bit of a bugger,
as I'll be forced to drive the bike to town each day, most likely. Was
hoping for walks or possibly local buses, to avoid having to park in city centers leaving my gear unguarded. It'll sort itself eventually I
suppose. Also learnt that at least Alhambra only have a limited number
of tickets per day available, so might be in for a bit of waiting before
I'm admitted. Well, nothing much to do about that. I've not
ridden this far to turn back at the gates...
Finally, managed to
upload some of the pictures from my regular camera, so here comes some
flashbacks of the events from previous month.
